When it comes to the equation of Kids+ Energy all we need to realize is how to keep them occupied. So planning an activity not just kills their boredom but also challenge their minds, strengthen their bodies and make them feel more strong. That’s why we need to plan up for a new list of active indoor games to keep your child up and moving, even on those gloomiest of days. Here are some of the active list of games that keep your kid busy burning their energy.
Balloon Games
Balloons are always of prime attraction for any birthday party. Any child would enjoy those balloon games at those birthday parties, making it more fascinating by taking it to next level with a fine set of rules helps them develop some gross motor skills by burning off those energy. Few classic balloon games have not left us not entertained.
Don’t Let it Touch Down: These are some of the basic games kids love forever. Rules are simple to start with, hit the balloon in the air but make sure it won’t touch the ground. Make it more interesting and challenging to older kids by balancing it in one hand or ask them to juggle more than one balloon. This balloon game helps in improving arm strength and also hand-eye coordination.
Foot Balance: Let’s focus on some core workouts for your child. Make your kids lie on the ground with their legs up in the air and try and balance the balloon on their feet. Though it isn’t an easy task it requires a lot of concentration to finish this in a given time.
Sport Games
Think of bringing home some of your child’s outdoor toys inside to catch that fun. Jump ropes and softballs with other activity roll-ons should be used to make the game interesting and playful.
Let’s try to adapt some favorite games of your child and bring out these variations for plenty of real fun:
Basketball: Grab some laundry baskets and place them on the floor, stair or hang them on a hook or door handle. Use some softballs or DIY your balls with a newspaper, rolled-up socks, or soft toys. So yes, the little basketball hoop is all set to play.
Bowling: Create those bowling “lane” with some painter’s tape and use plastic bottles or cups for pins. To knock down those pins or cups placed, use some softballs to bowl as many pins as possible. Make it more interesting by recording the score and choose the winner if it’s a multiple-player game, if not simply aim to Knock down the pins to have fun. Arrange it in a shape Pyramid to have that fun factor in it.
Classic Games & Activities
Some of our favorite games, just updated with modern indoor play. These are classics for a reason because its super fun and great all time.
Lemon ‘n’ Spoon Race: Grab a spoon and lemon, make sure it fits the spoon. Design a course and loop for your child to navigate through and see if they have reached the finish line without dropping the object or spoon. Speed up the game once they get the hang of it.
Sack Race: Let’s plan for some real fun and crazy play. Sack race has ever been a game filled with laughter. Update this game with pillowcases instead of the old gunny’s. Make your child step in, hold it up around their waist and hop to reach the finish line.
Gross Motor Skill Games
Set up an obstacle course, a gross motor Indoor game to make your kids move and give them a goal to accomplish. Make your DIY and create an obstacle course to test your child’s strategic skills.
Obstacle Maze: Using crepe paper create a complex maze in the living room so kids can navigate themselves through it, create the maze in such a way that they have to crawl, step over and maneuver their bodies through the maze.
Life-size Book Maze: Create a large maze in the hallway using books and make your kids hop, crawl or walk back through it. This exercise will improve their spatial awareness and problem-solving skills.
Obstacle Course: In the play area create an obstacle course that will engage the kids with a variety of motions i.e. walking, jumping, crawling, balancing, etc. You can even have the kids build the obstacle course using their creative ideas.
Dice Games
Create a cube with different movements or exercises or tasks on each side. Have the kids roll the dice and perform the activity which they get. To keep things interesting you can change the activities in the dice.
Animal movement dice: Create dice with animal movements like “Hop like a frog”, “Run like a cheetah” etc. and make kids perform them by rolling the dice.
Exercise dice: Create a dice with classic exercises like “Jumping jacks”, “Sit-ups” etc. with several times the tasks should be performed. Keep the numbers different so it is interesting and fun for the kids.
