Navratri and Vijayadashami Celebrations
21st October 2021
Navratri – the festival to honour ‘Maa Durga’, her divinity, power and strength. Navratri is one of the most awaited festivals in our country and is celebrated with full fervour and devotion. The students of Pre-Primary celebrated it too with full gaiety and excitement. It was wonderful to see our children dressed up in traditional attire for the festival and ready with their dandiya sticks. They could hardly contain their excitement.
The day started with children speaking about ‘Navratri’. A colourful presentation of how ‘Navratri’ is celebrated in different parts of India was shown and explained. From ‘Ram Leela’, Kanjak Puja and Mata Ki Chowki in North India to ‘Golu Puja’ and ‘Mysore procession’ in South India from’ Durga Pujo’ and ‘Sindoor Khela’ in East India to ‘Keeping Garbi’ for nine days and Dandiya/Garba in West India were explained to children and the significance behind each ritual. Videos related to the same were shown. It was a fun-filled day for the children and teachers. The celebrations continued as the children danced beautifully with their dandias.
